Just 10 minutes north of Denver, Colorado National Golf Club offers an escape from the city with a breathtaking backdrop of snow-capped Long's Peak and Mount Meeker. At 7,676 yards from the back tees, there is ample space on the golf course, so much that only two holes run next to each other. The layout is a traditional links design that features native grasses lining the rolling fairways and large, undulating greens that play fast. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed around the course and there are water hazards on a few holes. The gusty winds are also a challenging factor that comes into play. Colorado National Golf Club is the exclusive course of the University of Colorado's golf teams.

    Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

    Goat ranch.

    Rangers are "abusive"!

    Greens are aweful!

    Staff is arrogant beyond belief.

Look. Nice views. But the golf course isn't even average.

Skip the Colorado Goat Ranch National!!!!!

The negative rating is strictly with respect to the customer service. Rude starter. We were hassled all the way through the front nine, and we are not a slow group. The wet conditions resulted in their keeping carts off the fairways on most holes, which is fine, but that slowed down play for everyone. There was a junior national tournament starting behind us, but the bottom line is that they scheduled things poorly and took it out on their customers. On the tenth hole, I stopped hitting and just drove the cart. While my group was hitting off the fairway I called the clubhouse to complain. When I was on my phone a starter yelled across the fairway, "Hey you on your phone, move it along!". I decided to hike back to the clubhouse and ask for a refund. I got no apology, and in fact was told their starters do what is expected by the people running the course - so they agree with treating customers that way. I was offered a rain check but declined, since I don't intend to return. I did receive $15 back on $40 fees, although that came with a snotty attitude from the guy in the clubhouse.

I'm a crappy golfer but I enjoy it and it's guys that think us crappy golfers should go some where else to play cause were holding them up boo hoo it's a free country and my money is green just like yours and if they let me play there it's because I paid them there green fees they didn't ask me if I'm a crappy golfer so's you real golfers don't have to wait on us were just learning the game of golf I heard it was a gentleman's game but reading some of the tacky comments I'm not so sure every one is a gentleman. Go CU and crappy golfers don't listen to them nay sayers go play golf.

We enjoyed playing this past Friday for a fun tournament with a local Aluminum/Glass Manufacturer at CNGC.
The course was amazing and in great condition. The staff I was in contact with were very professional and friendly; made us all feel very welcomed.
Not living in Colorado, although raised in Boulder, I will definately be back to play again.
Thanks to all who made this a very pleasant experience!

A good walk spoiled. Have never encountered such a group of douche bags in a pro shop in my life, these guys pretend that they ought to be Pebble Beach. Problem is, I have played Pebble and the staff if great. The course is nice, not in top 10 however. What a joke. I have met CEO's of fortune 500 companies with much better personalities.

Great course to play!! Fairways and greens were in great shape although the greens were super fast. The layout is wonderful with some very challenging holes. If you don't keep it in the fairway expect to lose some balls. Overall, i give it an A+ and look forward to playing it again.

Wow, the BS that is posted about this course and staff couldn't be any more then BS! You guys that complain about pace of play and how the staff supposedly treats you are right, you should go some place else so us "real golfers" and can play a great course in a good amount of time... the staff is great and very professional and have to put up with your cheap asses! You play for $25-$40 and expect to be treated like you are at be Pebble Beach. If you are looking for cheap to almost free golf you can find that any where! Stop complaining and act like you have golf etticate!!!!

The course was awesome. Great shape and played it for $60. Greens were way fast so pace of play was a bit slow. College tournament coming up and my skills are not close to them I found out in a hurry. This is a good course to bring you back to reality. It is tough and well kept. Very nice people.

"Big Al" (from below). That sounds like Alfred Williams the CU Alumn. There is no wander why you liked the course, huh homer? I am sure it helps that you golfed and ate for free.
The people that don't get everything for free expect to be treated a little better then what this place offers. You are far too removed from this way of life.
Charging you, AND not telling you, for people not showing up is ridiculous!! The place sucks.
    P.S. The CU Buffeys suck...bad

Played it in a PAC 12 Alumni event yesterday. This place is unbelieveable. What a true championship course. Greens were smooth and fast. Rough was tough. This is like playing a tough Tour course. No holes were next to each other and it is a big piece of property. Don't have to worry about people from other holes hitting you like Indian Peaks or Coal Creek. food was awesome and the staff was very funny. Gave us a bunch of crap about our Trojans. Fight on SC!

I play there almost every week. The staff is awesome and so is the course. You idiots that come out and slow play, don't repair your ball marks and complain you were charged for no shows should go to the Broadlands. This is a business and it costs money to operate. It is evident in the money CU spends on this course. Slow play ruins the round and the only people to blame for slow play is the s****y golfers, not the course or the marshals. The course is great and my kids did free golf lessons all summer. What other clubs have free lessons all summer from rude staff. I am so sick of these crappy golfers ruining the nice courses. Go spend your $45 somewhere else and leave the nice courses alone. It's no wonder the staff is cranky dealing with A**holes all day takes its toll. People who think their $45 got them on Augusta for the day. Get real people.

Great if you like to be treated like crap by staff. Compelled to write review after choosing to have a golfing get together for a B-day. I will never give them my hard earned money again.

First off I had two golfers cancel. and notified them the same day as soon as I found out. I had booked 2 foursomes So 6 instead of 8 paid. They never mentioned that they would be billing me for the 2 anyway and when confronted the following Monday the employee on the phone actually said that it is company policy to NOT tell customers they will be charged after a cancellation to avoid arguments. So basically if I am the nice guy that chooses to book at your course I am also the one that gets punished for doing so if one of my confirmed has a conflict at the last minute. Sounds like a great way to earn customers for life. Encouraging theft by omission to not inform your customers that they are paying for the round anyway, so may you should look a little harder for 2 more golfers. I am sure VISA will have no problems with this one…..

We had mixed golfers skill sets as happens with these types of events and perhaps I should not have played from the tips on this long course, but I am long ball hitter and frequently wait for people to clear the green or fairway. I thought this would be a good way to hold our pace back. By hole 11 we were 15 minutes behind pace according to our GPS and of course the two some that was behind us was in our party, so no one was complaining. I guess we also fell victim to the advertised turn snack grill This was the perfect opportunity for the “drunk with power” marshall to approach us and read us the riot act. We were told that we had to pick up the pace because there were 2 holes open ahead of us. You guys are not playing ready golf, “ look you have a ball over there and a ball over here, you need to be setup at both…..It would be a horrible day to skip a hole. Also the tee boxes you are playing from are closed, so you cannot hit from them.” All B.S. because there tee boxes were all marked, not like we were deciding for ourselves where the course length was set. We frantically rushed 2 holes only to be bogged down in traffic on the par 3. Wait, 2 holes you say? I thought you were behind 2 holes? Its odd that we could play just two holes (one being the one we were on) and catch up to the next foursome. Oh and not just the foursome ahead of us, but yeah, the next group as well ahead of them. After waiting for two groups to churn through the par 3 we were back to apparent pace. We continued to wait the rest of the round at every single hole until we finished. When talking to the employee at the desk he stated “ the Marshall is my boss, so I am not inclined to talk to him about it.” He cut me a $10 raincheck per person for the round, arguably fair but what is the point if the whole tempo of the game was destroyed and it was caused by the people running the place, not golfers on the course.
Its no wonder this is the nicest course with the worse reviews in customer service. The staff just could not care less, if you are happy, if you want to come back, if you just spent your money to keep them in business. There are plenty of other places to play in CO that offer a better golfing experience. Take your business there

Played this course the first time on 6/26 and it took just under 3 hours to play the front nine.

Absolutely no customer service and the course was dry and fairways rough. There are many other courses in the area to play that are in much better shape and cost less.

Would not recommend playing this course

The course is a nice layout ... service is a joke, no starter, call to tee box, snack cart, two different prices charged for same coupon (had this problem previously)my playing buddy showed up a little later than I did. Change out the front side staff with some pros and it would be a nice course.

Played here for the first time on Monday 6/27, booked an open tee time for two. The course is in good condition, fun and challenging.

Very poor and little if any customer service.

The guy in the pro shop took our money and told us to take any cart and that was the extent of our conversation. No starter, there was confusion at the first tee as to who was up and what two somes were playing together, no announcements from the pro shop, no directions, nothing.

I would not play here again even at a highly discounted rate because of the poor customer service, the course is nice though.

This is a beautiful track with a very impressive club house, but something seems amiss. When we checked in we were told there was no starter, and that we could head over to the first tee to "hash things out." We were also told we would play behind a five-some that included a sixth who wasn't playing. Well, there were six in the group ahead of us, all playing. It was a slow round. Overall, an attractive, challenging course that currently seems a bit out of sorts.

Played last week, as was sighted previously staff was very pretentious, & very "un-informing." Course was well kept, but greens were slow, and 2 holes on back side seemed very gimmicky.

Took OVER 4 1/2 hours to play because of pace of play, on a Wednesday. No marshal ever appeared the whole round, and the beverage cart girl barely made it around to us a second time by hole 16.

Starter was the nicest most informative person there. We got out of there to spend our money and enjoy beverages at another venue after our round was complete.
