Rio Grande Club is named after the river that flows through the course. Golfers will have to make a tricky shot over this mighty river. Surrounded by the two million-acre Rio Grande National Forest, the scenic landscape is dotted with sandstone outcroppings and groves of pines, aspens, and cottonwoods. It is a true mountain golf course with dramatic elevation changes that add an interesting element to the round. There are also fast-running creeks winding throughout the golf course, most prominently the Alder Creek on the back nine. Rio Grande Club's rolling terrain in combination with the abundance of trees demand accuracy and careful strategy.

- I’ve played here off and on for over 16 years, and the course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen. Great place to play, and the only complaint is the wind can be a challenge. Great staff, and facilities, the whole layout is only missing a resort hotel.Great Course, well maintained except for a small fungus issue on the greens. Fairways and tee boxes are lush. Course makes you hit a variety of shots but they all better be straight or bring a lot of golf balls. One of the most fun courses I play every year.
Golf shop staff was eager to please and there to make sure your round was perfect. The only knock (- 1 star) was the restaurant staff. Every time we ordered a drink or food they acted like we were bothering them. They were quite rude.Absolutely beautiful layout, and wonderful staffCould be a great golf course, but the management doesn't really try to maintain it. Terribly overpriced! Cart pathways ARE TERRIBLY maintained !
Views are outstanding, but not for the price!
Great course! Put this one in your bucket list! Views are great, hard to focus on your golf game. Very nice club house, food & beer after golf was very good, staff did a great job! If you like elevation change, you will love this one wloved ItAbsolutely outstanding! Challenging, beautiful views, with two distinct styles between the front and the back! River course hopping back and forth over the Rio Grande River, and the mountain course climbing over the San Juan Mountains down into valleys and through the pines and aspens of the Rockies. The 17th has 100 mile views of the San Luis Valley while the finishing hole is the best I have ever played! The new Pro is outstanding and welcoming! The facility is second to none! Rustic, modern, phenomenal!
