Nestled in the foothills of the Rockies, Arrowhead Golf Club is one of the most popular public golf courses in Denver for its scenic terrain and interesting layout. It boasts some of the most dramatic elevation changes of any of the golf courses on the Front Range. Thousands of feet of ancient red sandstone rock formations cover the rolling hills of the course. There are many points on the golf course that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the Denver skyline. Golfers may even catch a glimpse of the native wildlife that inhabit the course, including deer, elk, and foxes. Arrowhead Golf Club's 13th is one of the most scenic holes. It is a par 3 that plays off an elevated between red rock cliffs and over trees to a large green that is also backed by a pond.

Over the years I have played a lot of rounds at this course. On a scale of 1-10, I will rate it the following.

Practice facility = 3 You can not hit off grass and cannot hit a driver off the tee. No chipping or sand trap areas and with all the traps on this course it is missed. Green is OK.

Greens = 5. The greens here are very, very difficult, to the point numbers 4, 5, 7 and 12 are unfair. The greens also do not stick very well and are hard.

Fairways = 7. The fairways are in good shape but they get a downgrade for not having a first cut of rough so the ball roles off the fairway directly into deep rough.

Traps = 5. This course has a ton of traps, but the sand is not constant, some don't drain will and contain a lot of stones.

Rough = 3. The rough here is very thick and hard to hit from. They also keep it high enough where it can be hard to find your ball just off the fairway. Their are also a lot of areas around traps and fairways where they never cut and will result in lost balls. I think they just don't want to spend the money to cut a lot of this stuff and the course was never intended to be this way by the designer. This really slows down play and this course is known for taking a long time to play.

Scenery =10 . You will not find a more scenic course.

Design = 8. Every hole is totally different, beautiful well conceived. This course will make you use every club in your bag. However, if you miss a shot this course will make you pay. The massive rocks, nasty rough, scrub oak, countless traps and killer greens can make for a very frustrating day.

Maintenace = 3 For what they charge this course should be better manicured. a lot of the areas around traps they don't cut the grass at all, they don't have a first cut of rough along the fairways, the greens don't hold shots very well, and the rough really needs to be shorter. Most of this leads to a lot slower play because people are constantly looking for golf balls and it takes the fun out of the experience.

Clubhouse, food and service = 9 The clubhouse is nice and the views are to die for. The food is good and the service is very good.

Overall = 7. This score could be a lot higher if they made some of the improvements I mentioned above. The course plays very slow because everyone is looking for balls in the rough and it's overall difficulty, but it is truly one of a kind track.

Very nice scenery, but the course is overpriced. Also pace of play is very slow. We had to call the pro-shop twice to complain about the pace of play on a Monday morning. The round took 5 and a 1/4 hours.

    THE SCENERY IS BREATHTAKING!
I TOOK MY HUSBAND TO ARROWHEAD FOR HIS BIRTHDAY, ALL THE WAY FROM HOUSTON, TX AND HE CANNOT THANK ME ENOUGH! LADIES, IF YOU WANT YOUR HUSBAND TO TREAT YOU LIKE A QUEEN, DO NOT HESITATE TO DO THE SAME! HE SAYS THAT THIS IS THE BEST GOLF COURSE EVER. I HAVE TO AGREE!! The greens were superbly maintained and DIFFICULT to read but what a beautiful challenge amidst these immense, spectacular, jutting rocks!

A challenging course design that takes full advantage of the phenomenal red sandstone upthrusts created 300 million years ago. The natural breathtaking beauty of the layout challenges your focus and concentration on the game at hand.Greens, tees, fairways in excellent condition and the wildlife is a wonderful bonus. Staff very friendly and helpful. A wonderful all around experience. I will be back!!
