As one who grew up playing "hardscrabble munis" (see Rick Reilly's Missing Links for a deep appreciation of such things), there is something I like about this course. The layout is quite good, by well known architect Press Maxwell, son of Perry. So it has good bones. In fact it was the original Rolling Hills CC before the club moved up canyon to more secluded environs. It is a bit "rough around the edges" in terms of conditioning and maintenance, but its laid back everyman (and woman) feel and good layout make for an enjoyable and inexpensive round if you just want to get out and bang it around on a beautiful Rocky Mountain afternoon!

I LOVE it! I've played golf courses all over the US and of ALL of them, I'd have to call this place my home course. I'm lucky.

This is a good course for beginners. In fact they seem to do a great job on the youth training programs.
Not a course I enjoyed with so many other great options in Denver area.
But again, a nice family option and a good place to learn the game.

inexpensive, beautiful, and slightly challenging. I would recommend for people who are not very competitive and who enjoy golf. the staff is very nice too.

This is a GREAT course for BEGINNERS. The holes are challenging yet reasonable for people who are learning. I finally accomplished my first par at Applewood.

BUT - the restaurant is horrible and the food sticks. I will NEVER eat there again.

They should plow over this course and build something on it.

Not a 'pristine' course but much more difficult than at first glance. Not very long but has challenging layout. Quite inexpensive and probably the bext value in the Denver metro area. Always busy and pace of play can sometimes be a factor but I usually can get in 18 holes in about 4 and a half hours.

Played in Mid August. Half the fairways were muddy bogs that ate up drives and in generally poor condition. The tee boxes were torn up, but at least the greens were good. The guys in the pro-shop always seem to be in a bad mood. The worst problem is the slow pace of play. Almost three hours to play 9 holes and once again I had to walk off the course before finishing my round. And this was a weekday afternoon! That was the third and LAST time I had to leave before finishing. I will never play there again, which is unfortunate as it is so close to home.

This course is in terrible condition with winter kill. Do not play it. They have put nothing to repair. The staff is rude as well.

Not a great course but it's popular with the seniors and those who are too poor to play Fossil Trace GC. We need a few of these affordable courses around for the old folks.
