This course is nicknamed "The Hill" because most fairways run back and forth across land that slopes fairly steeply towards the Colorado River. The main challenges are (1) the frequent lies that are not level, (2) the mature trees that line most fairways, (3) the sideways or reverse slope of many greens and (4) the usual hardness of the greens from facing south whereby they dry and harden. Having said all of that, the course is well irrigated and the grass is maintained in good condition, and the rates are very reasonable.

The course is reasonably walkable in that the tees are close to the previous greens, although the cumulative elevation gain around the course is around 200 feet -- about half of it quite steep -- and so anyone walking it should be in good physical condition and adjusted to the elevation of about 5,800 feet.

This is the best 9 hole course in Colorado, Its in tremendous shape, and provides a good challenge to the players while rewarding good shots. I miss the staff and the locals, its a great tight knit welcoming community. I will always return to the "The Hill".

We were visiting Glenwood Springs for a few days This course was immaculate and excellently maintained. The staff person was rude and uppity and seemed to be only concerned about local golfers.

This course was rated "Best 9-hole course in Colorado" a few years ago and has been maintained in that condition since.
Great place for a morning or afternoon round when you don't have the time for 18.
Or play around twice to see which 9 was better.
