The Dunes Golf Course is one of two golf courses at Riverdale Golf Club. The Dunes is the more expensive of the two -- although non-residents still pay less than $50 to play on the weekend -- and the more popular play. That's because the Pete and Perry Dye design, located about 30 minutes outside Denver, is considered to be among the top public golf courses in Colorado. The Dunes is a Scottish-style links course, filled with pot bunkers and railroad ties, and is an enjoyable and challenging course for any level of golfer. The par-3 eighth has a shallow green with water in the front and some of the toughest rough on the golf course, and the short par-4 finishing hole has a difficult green to navigate. Riverdale Golf Club is also home to the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame.

Riverdale Golf Club includes two lovely courses. Unfortunately, the management of the two courses has caused me to never want to play golf on either of them again. In fact, this is my first and only review of any course on golfcolorado, so that all may know that they should be wary of Riverdale Golf Club. Like many courses, Riverdale Golf Club has a policy that it will charge your credit card even if you failed to make your tee time. Unlike most courses, Riverdale actually will charge you and will show no grace whatsoever in the event you failed to show up for a tee time. I obviously recognize the need for a policy like this. I also recognize that Riverdale may have missed out on some amount of revenue (although, I find this highly unlikely, considering on how busy the course is, how many walkups show up, and the time of day my tee time was scheduled). But, golf courses should also be willing to forgive mistakes and to have a certain amount of grace. Jeff over at Riverdale Golf Club did not. He decided to hold the line, which by the letter of the law, he was entitled to do. By doing so, however, he will never again see me or any of my friends playing at Riverdale.

Very friendly staff! Knowledgeable, patient, and well trained. Every employee we encountered was so nice and eager to help... even the ranger was nice, what? We even met the head professional, Jeff, and he was just that, professional. I was very impressed at the level of service from such a busy public golf course, which was in fantastic condition. We will be back!!

It doesn't get any better than this. BEST DEAL IN THE STATE!! I played this morning, in March... the course is already in better condition than most Denver courses are all year!! What a treat! I cannot wait to play this golf course again, and again. Thank you Riverdale !

If you are a handicap player, don't even bother. I had to skip 2 holes as I could not keep up with their cart monitoring system & was pretty worn out. Course in good shape but so many others cater to handicap players.

A week ago I played the sister course, the Knolls and was less impressed than the nicely laid out Dunes course. The Dunes had been on my list of must plays and I was happy to see that it didn't let me down. The course was a bit soft and even swampy at 7:45am. The mosquitoes we're not phased be my bug spray and required me to play with my rain gear. Afternoon heat would fix this issue. The course was in great shape. It helps as my play was strong birdieing 4 holes on the back 9 (14,15,16, &17). Over all the course is a good value at roughly $50. If it wasn't 45-60 minutes away I would play it more often. I would also share that taking 15 min to enjoy the Colorado Golf HOF expiate is worth your time. Its free and provides you with a basic timeline for golf in Colorado. I had hope for more memorabilia but its still worth your time. As for the clubhouse and cafe. Nothing special. The food took darn near 1 hour the day we played the dunes. A burger and chicken sandwich should take no longer than 15 minutes IMO. Anyone in or around Denver looking for a fun nicely designed course thats in great shape check this course out.

I played in a foursome on a saturday morning and finished in 4 hrs 9 min. We were harassed 6 times by 2 different rangers and finally the head golf professional, who became belligerent when we refused to skip to the 14th green. A bit too amateurish to ever play what was a pretty nice course ever again.

I would play more often at the dunes but for the clubhouse pro name Jeff Meeker. He is a very negative person has no people skills what so ever. I know of a few people who have warned me about him and I found out first hand what a jerk he is. He does not treat people with respect how he keeps his job is beyond me. All the other staff is friendly but him please please remove him. I think you are losing money when people go elsewhere because of him.

Fun, challenging links style course. It's not surrounded by housing developments, a plus in my book.

The rough is very thick right now. You've got to be accurate off the tee. There's a good amount of water for a Colorado course. Greens were very fast, but very nice. Quite a few unfixed divots. Overall the course was well maintained.

Price wasn't too bad either, $60 for a weekend with a cart.

A couple negatives however. We were told by the marshal that we weren't allowed to stop at the turn for food or drinks, but only saw a cart girl after we had played 14 holes. If you're not going to let me stop at the turn, at least have a cart girl coming around often.

Also, the same marshal kept coming around to tell us to speed up, even though we were on pace for a 3:45 round, were often waiting on the group in front of us, and had no group pushing us.

Other than that, the golf was great.

I could play every round here and never tire of the course. Tough but fair if you play from the correct tees for your handycap. The staff here are great and friendly. The food is really good and reasonabley priced. A great all around value course.

Course itself is great. Reason I don't rate it higher is because Jeff truly is a jerk. Will overcharge you on green fees if you don't watch him, smirks when you catch him, will short you on lessons (I paid for some for my son before I knew I should steer clear of Jeff, then Jeff wouldn't return calls to schedule last lesson - I finally just chalked it up to lesson learned). I have lots of choices about where to play; I often pass up the Dunes because of this guy. Used to play there 7-8 times a year; now play once or twice and then only if friends push for it because of the course.

The very worst golf experience I have ever had in 40+ years of golf. Jeff Meeker was on duty last Sunday and decided to meet our foursome as we came off the 9th hole. Without a prior warning, he said "don't even think about going to the snack stand. You are a hole behind (by the way, the group behind us was at least one hole behind) and if you don't catch the group in front of you in two holes, I will bodily remove you from the course". My wife was shaken up by this idiot but I stayed cool for her sake. Riverdale Dunes, this guy is going to cost you and this is probably not the first time it's happened.

I love this course. It's well worth the drive . Make sure you play this course and not Riverdale Knolls. A Dye layout with #15 being the signature hole and the only course I ever saw with the 18 handicap hole being a par 5. Usually in very good shape

Riverdale Dunes is my favorite public course to play along the front range! This course offers a challenge to all levels of golfers. You can customize the course to your handicap by choosing the appropriate tee box. The course is always in great shape!
